Fire Force Season 2 made no sense

I just don’t understand. Hear me out 👇
I watched the first season of Fire Force and I liked it very much, a solid 4 out of 5 👌 Great drawing (if you liked Soul Eater, well from the same author), the plot was good and the main character had something ✅
I finished the first season with the big reveal 😮 finally seeing Shrina’s brother (Sho) alive and well 💯 We see a short fight between them while Shrina tries to save him from the Evangelist and the rest of the cult 👍
I have not read the manga but my only expectation for Season 2 was that we would continue where we left off with Sho. What we got instead was no Sho in the whole season. What?! 🤦♂️
This would have been fine if there wasn’t season one 🤷♂️ You get the story just for season two, and you can enjoy the fights and whatnot. But the most important thing, the main driver for the main character, the reason he joined the Fire Force, his childhood trauma… It was just left aside, Sho was left aside 🤔
📚 Manga
When I was done with Season 1 I went to the library to check out the manga, if it was as interesting I would be interested in collecting it 💰
Sadly the drawing in the manga wasn’t as good as the anime 🥲 Which doesn’t happen often but, for me, happened here. Shinra’s devilish characteristic smile wasn’t as devilish in the manga, it just didn’t create the same impact. I read the first volume and I wasn’t feeling any need or interest in continuing reading 😔
Is Season 2 loyal to the manga? Did the author really push the storyline of Sho aside for a later volume/season? I’m sorry but that sucked 👎
👩🚒 Season 2 had interesting new characters
The new additions to the 8th Firehouse were good and interesting, especially the late addition. Vulcan the engieneer gave it a nice dynamic with Artur and his creations.
🛐 Church and faith
I saw myself eye-rolling a lot with the whole church topic, I couldn’t care less. Even after they uncovered the church was created by that Evangelist. Which we know almost nothing about. They learn the Sol church is completely fabricated (although if you think about it all religions are fabricated) their faith is still intact. Ugh… One of the things I could never understand about this show was the whole bringing the sister to the fires so she could perform a prayer. I just didn’t get it. I wasn’t raised in a household with any religion so that might’ve contributed. Maybe I would have given it less importance and more focus on fighting, which is what we were here to watch.
🔥 Conclusion
I am very disappointed with this second season, it took me a long time to finish it. I most probably won’t be watching any sequel ❌
I’m surprised it has, at the moment of this writing, a 7.8/10 on MyAnimeList 😧 Which is 0.1 higher than the first season. I don’t get it.
