Short and fun

A 24 episode series about friends from different ages living in Tokyo. Each episode is a short 10 minute slice of life where it shows how we all fail daily but most of us try to play it cool.

Each character has of course a different personality and it shows on how they “play it cool” when they mess up.

It started very fun and disconnected but it slowly interlaced all the characters’ lives making it a group of friends. This is, however, borderline Boys Love (BL). Nothing happens but you’re like… “Are they going to kiss now, or what?” 😂 It’s not like the story needed it but the sweet friendship, the drawing style, I don’t know. I think they did it “on purpose”.

Unfortunately the last 5 episodes or show fall a little short. They’re not like how they start the series full of fails and anecdotes and more just them doing stuff. I don’t know, maybe I binge-watched it and that was the problem.

Would I recommend it?

Yes, it’s not out of this world but if you have nothing to do and want to see a perfect picture of Tokyo and it’s small details go for it (the sound of the crossings, the traffic lights, the backgrounds…). I’ve spent a week here now in Tokyo during my 2023 trip and watching Cool Doji Danshi it’s like watching the real thing.

Have you seen it?
