With an 8.20 out of 10 on MyAnimeList Horimiya is a sweet slice-of-life / romance series about a group of friends in high-school.

I’ve binge-watched this anime in two days and enjoyed it quite a bit. It paints sweet romance stories that we all wished we had back in high school.

My high-school years sucked big time, as that book puts it the worst years of my life so seeing an anime like this warms my heart.

You can’t help but root for the characters to have a happy ending, and to be brave enough to confess to each other… it’s all very sweet. It also shows lots of traits of the Japanese culture, such as being so hard to call someone by their first name, something that we don’t even think about here in Europe.

The animation, drawing, and soundtracks for this 13-episode length anime are all okay. I like how they combine more comical drawings here and there. It works.

Recommendation

If you’re into this theme and crave some romance, yes. Not much more to say ☺️

There seems to be a side story (second season?) named Horimiya: Piece which is also a 13-episode length series. It seems to be set after they graduate from high school so it smells like season two. Not sure why is it described as a side-story on MyAnimeList. I’ll give it a try and report back 😉
