Tsurune: Season 2, this series gets even better

I had very high expectations for the second season of Tsurune. I truly loved the first part and felt it was super short. Now the universe is at balance again more kyudo.

I can’t praise enough the animation quality, it’s superb (and I’m sure costly). Each episode has been done with care, each scene is beautifully animated. It genuinely has movie-like quality, it looks like what you would expect from a 2-hour movie from a good animation studio.

The story is not amazing but it does the job, there are no big plot twists but that’s ok too. In this season, we explore deeper each of the main characters and their background. I liked very much to see them outside of the training hall and into more slice-of-life scenes, a breath of fresh air that contributed a lot to the story. We needed to see them like that, to see them evolve outside of the dojo.

New characters are introduced, they were ok, not outstanding. In the end, the power of friendship overcomes any barrier and we’re all a big happy family. Idealistic and not very realistic but I’ll take it, I’ve enjoyed watching this season and that’s all that matters.

Will there be a third season? I shall hope so, please don’t leave us hanging. Even though the finale is just open enough to be done with this anime I hope they find the budget to give us more.

Have you seen it?
